Since our company's founding in 1913, LEEVAC has built a wide range of vessels and workboats for virtually every aspect of the maritime industry. Over the years we have designed, manufactured and launched a large variety of vessels and barges up to 600 feet in length – and our launch system has the capability of handling vessels up to 700 feet.
The shipbuilding facilities at LEEVAC feature state-of-the-art maritime construction equipment and computer cutting technology housed in a controlled environment. LEEVAC represents the finest in steel fabrication and Gulf Coast shipyards anywhere. Our modular construction is performed in a 130,000-square-foot covered fabrication area – which means virtually no weather delays to hold up projects, as well as providing a safer environment. This also allows us to get each job done quickly and efficiently, while maintaining our reputation for on time and on budget deliveries.
Our shipyard in Louisiana and new vessel construction facilities include an 85,000-square-foot computerized steel fabrication shop (with a computer-aided plasma cutting machine), a computerized pipe machine (three-axis pipe cutting system) and an 8000-square-foot pipe shop that allows our craftsmen to prefab and spool pipe indoors. LEEVAC's facilities also include a warehouse complex featuring more than 30,000 square feet of storage space. Our heavy, maritime construction equipment includes three crawler cranes with capacity up to 230 tons, as well as 10 overhead cranes and eight track cranes. We have the capability to safely and efficiently transport modules weighing up to 200 tons utilizing a specialized transport vehicle. In addition, the LEEVAC ship yard facilities features a dry dock, a graving dock, more than 2,000 feet of wet dock area with 40 feet of water in the river and a one side launch-way.
The LEEVAC shipbuilding facilities are situated on 210 acres that encompass production, fabrication and office space. Our main new vessel construction facility is located on the Mermentau River approximately five miles east of Jennings, Louisiana – which is about 17 hours transit time from the Gulf of Mexico.
Our company also owns the former site of SBA Shipyards (known as LEEVAC South) that is located approximately 2.5 miles south of our main shipyard on the Mermentau River.
The experienced craftsmen and shipbuilders at LEEVAC take great personal pride in every vessel that leaves our facility. The quality of our workmanship is unsurpassed – and our vessels are built to international specification as well as meeting all safety requirements, industry regulations and certification criteria.
