Over the span of nearly half a century, Gulf Island has designed and constructed a wide variety of vessels and barges to serve the oilfield services, gaming, excursion and commercial fishing industries, among others. Our new construction facilities are strategically located to be easily accessed from both the Gulf of Mexico and Intracostal Waterway. Our vessels are built to international standards meeting all safety requirements, industry regulation and certification criteria for worldwide operations.
The new construction shipbuilding facilities at Gulf Island feature state-of-the-art maritime construction equipment and computer cutting technology housed in a controlled environment. Our modular construction is performed in a combined 210,000-square-foot covered fabrication areas – which means virtually no weather delays to hold up projects. Our new vessel construction facilities include an 85,000-square-foot and a 24,000-square-foot computerized steel fabrication shops (both with a computer-aided plasma cutting machine), an 8,000 square feet pipe shop with a computerized pipe machine (three-axis pipe cutting system) that allows our craftsmen to prefab and spool pipe indoors. Gulf Island facilities also include two warehouse complexes featuring more than 46,000 square feet of storage space.
